When your best friend gets engaged, her gallery gets posted immediately! I had the best time photographing Kirsten and Brad this afternoon. I can’t wait to be in their wedding party this October! Enjoy their teaser gallery below.

This winter I’m going to try and catch up on my blog posts! Here are a few images from spring and summer engagement sessions I did in 2014. This winter looks like it will be a busy one for engagement sessions, so I will probably do one large post with those images later in the year 🙂
It has been a very busy last few months so the blog has not been updated with new galleries of my summer work. My first priority is getting images to my clients, so the blog posts have fallen behind because of that. I update my Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/LauraDettlingPhotography with sneak peeks very often so to see recent work please visit and “like” my page! Below is a very small sample of what I’ve been up to the past several months 🙂

During Jess and Cams engagement photos, we were lucky enough to get a range of awesome skies to work with! Never in a single session have I had such a variety of epic sky backgrounds! Jess and Cam brought their incredibly well behaved pooch, Rosy, to the session who was my new best friend by the end of the day. Other than one run off to the river, she was the best behaved dog I’ve ever photographed. I’m super excited for Jess and Cams wedding this October, and I hope you enjoy this sample from their engagement session 🙂
We started off the session at Brewster downtown, where Dani and Kayla had their engagement party, and then went down to the river valley to finish off the session with the Edmonton skyline. It was a chilly day for an engagement session, but Kayla and Dani didn’t complain once! I had a great time photographing their session and here are a few of my favorite shots 🙂
Sophiane and Devren’s session started off with us cascading down a cliff-side onto the frozen river near Whitemud Park. After having several heart attacks from ice cracking beneath my feet, we created some amazing shots on the frozen river! We also incorporated the beautiful blue blanket Sophiane crocheted into a few snugly shots. I had a NAIT student shadowing me during this session, so I included a few “behind the scenes” shots in the blog post as well!
Behind the scenes:
Who knew engagement photography could be so hazardous! Lucky there was only about a foot of water underneath the ice, so none of us were in any real danger other than from a heart attack.
The wide angle and behind the scenes shots are from my work experience student Elena from Captive Beauty Photography
